Found this at a local plant sale.  Looked interesting, 8" tall and each flower appears to have a sharp spine inside.

(Thank Google Images for that identification, I could only remember that it was something Australian, typed in 'Australian pink furry plant', and there it was on page 3! ;D )

Well, you could've tried "Lamb's Tails' or "Mulla Mulla"

Sadly the wet weather must've finished it off last summer but it was a fair age and probably due for replacement. It's little sibling, P. subulatus is called "Pussy-Tails" and persists for us in a sand-bed.
