« on: August 09, 2011, 09:42:44 AM »
My G. subcaulescens never set seeds.I guess it is a bad form. Therefore I 'd like to grow one from seed to increase my chances of having a fruit bearing form.
Can anybody help please?

Mine doesn't have seed either and I've never seen seed on any plant of this species. It propagates easily from wither cuttings or root cuttings though.

Lesley
I wish to have a fertile form to make hybrids with cinereum. In a previous garden I had done so,and obtained some beautiful plants, unfortunately they didn't move with me.
Another member of the forum also got a Super Ballerina but it is also lost. There is a Super Guiseppe out there somewhere but I can't trace it.If somebody knows more about it ,please let me know.
Do you know there is also a very rare white form, found by Allan Robinson in the mountains of Greece and several pink forms. Those look a bit like Sateene.

I don't know about seed on subcaulesecens (never seen any), but G. sanguineum will only set seed for me if the flowers and foliage are kept completely dry, so that might be a tip.

I once found a Geranium cinereum type seedling but it wasn't exciting.  I even had the name ready for the big launch.  It was to be called .....

"I Can't Believe it's not Ballerina"  ;D

For our foreign viewers, "I Can't Believe it's not Butter" is a margarine/vegetable oil substitute for butter.  Catchy name.

Did you ever see the 'Vicar of Dibley' where Alice said that she had tried another brand and " I can't believe it's not 'I can't believe it's not butter'!" ???
cheers

I saw it Fermi, at least twice. Our local TV channels dig up old Vicars of Dibley every Christmas and Easter as if in an attempt to satisfy any religious tendencies we may have. They're like Roger's (and my late father's) jokes. Very funny the first time, slightly amusing the second, and a pain in the butt thereafter.
