Sowing in autumn?
« on: October 21, 2007, 12:26:48 PM »
Hi, I have seeds from Mediterranean and Canary Islands plants. What are your experiences with sowing them in autumn (indoor) under artificial light? Or better to wait until spring?

Thanks, Hans

It depends on how quickly they are going to grow, and how big a light you have.
I only sow slow growers now. At the moment, I have seedlings of six species
of South African Erica under lights.  They have been growing for over a month
and are still the size of a pin head.  I will be able to grow them all winter and
they will still fit under my light.

I have already sown some seeds of Ononis natrix and a not yet identiffied plant from the Costa Blanca region (Spain). Enough artificial light supplying is necessary and they are doing fine now.

Cheers, Hans
