Cameron Carmichael, sometime member of the Scottish Rock Garden Club, a loyal and generous supporter of the Glasgow group, a brilliant plantsman and a well-known, much loved, if sometimes controversial figure, to horticulturists and gardeners throughout Scotland, died on Friday, 7th of October. The cremation service will be at Linn Crematorium, Lainshaw Drive Glasgow G45 9SP on Thursday, 13th October at 12.30pm.

Cameron had trained  at Erskine and later obtained a Scottish Diploma of Horticulture at Auchincruive. He workd in horticulture in Ipswich, Kirkcaldy and later with the Hamilton Parks Department. He retired some time ago and was kept busy by his three acre  garden and his interests outside gardening, which included antiques and classical music.
Cameron was a regional co-ordinator for the National Council for Conservation of Plants and Gardens, a group with which both he and his wife Ann much involved.
Cameron was principally interested in  rhododendrons, trees and woodland plants and he was always ready to support SRGC Glasgow Group plant sales with plants he had propagated. He was much involved in the Scottish Branch of the American Rhododendron Society and did some broadcasting on garden subjects for BBC local radio in Glasgow.
Many people will remember his generosity in sharing his plants and expertise with his friends.
We send condolences to his surviving son and to his wife, Ann.

I have been informed that Cameron's daughter Jan and son Andrew would have liked also to have been
mentioned here.
I was unaware of the extent of Cameron and Ann's family and am sorry that I was not able before now to mention and send condolences also to Jan and Andrew.
