This summer my wife Vivienne visited Hutton Church, not far from Berwick, where her parents were married and she was baptised. It was the 175th anniversary of the dedication of the new church, and her aunt lives in Harrowgate Cottage, which has been in the family for a few generations. As part of the celebrations, Harrowgate Cottage garden had been decorated with life-size figures representing Vivienne's mother and her mother's sisters and brothers from various periods in their lives. Alas, the auntie, who's garden it was, was in hospital and unable to be there. The weather was terrible, but the family had an enjoyable day.
