Chris Chadwell 'Little Tibet' seeds - to give away
« on: December 16, 2011, 11:09:21 AM »
Hi,

just received my seeds from Chris Chadwell's 'Little Tibet' trip, all beautifully packaged, labelled and with accompanying CD containing pictures and growing hints.

These have arrived just at the wrong time for me because I am now planting up for the London Orchid show. So, regrettably, I would like to give them away in their entirety and ask the recipient to observe Chris' instructions if the collection is split up and distributed more widely.

I have copied the CD to a .pdf file which I will email to the person who wants to take on these seeds.

Please email me if you're interested. Perhaps if all goes well, I may have a plantlet or two in return.

Maren,

A wonderful and exciting selection of seeds and I certainly would love to grow many of the plants in my garden. However, I would feel nervous about taking on the responsibility.

not to worry, they've gone.

Hi Paddy,

they went to Calgary, Canada, which is quite a good place for them. Many were collected in the arid parts of the Himalayas and Calgary's climate appears to be very similar.  :) :) :)

It seems to me that you have found a good home for them. Best wishes to the grower.

Maren, what a wonderfully generous gesture you have made. I can't imagine giving away such a collection but if you feel it's the right thing to do, I hope the recipient will appreciate that and make a best effort to grow them all. (Perhaps we can guess who it is?)

All I can do is hope you have a very successful orchid show and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Errr, not me, if that's what you're thinking (as I seem to be the only Calgary poster).  :)   I'm sure they went to a great home though!

Yes Lori, your name sprang to mind. Whoever it is will be well rewarded in time to come and able to repay Maren's generosity, perhaps with some seeds or plants. :)

I must add to Maren's comment on the quality of packing. My share arrived yesterday. Not only were the seed packets in a thick layer of bubble wrap. They had been carefully attached to strips of sellotape to prevent them bunching in the envelope. I was a bit nervous about detaching the packets from the tape but Chris had clearly made sure that it was, in fact, easy. Certainly easier than germinationg and growing is going to be!

Hi Folks,

indeed Lori is not the only Calgary poster - that'll have you guessing ;) ;) ;)

I just hope that the seeds arrive at their new home in good order. Sending letters near Christmas time is always a little dodgy.

Thanks to everyone for their kind remarks. I have received so many favours from fellow forumists, it was my turn.

Merry Christmas and  Happy New Year to you all. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Wow, that's a great looking seed list! I'm waiting for mine (with bells on, no pun intended) - Chris said it would be around Xmas for us in the US, so it will be a great present! I'd love to hear about and compare notes with everyone about how your seeds do!
