The British Iris Society AGM 2011 and Shows 2012
« on: September 02, 2011, 07:22:24 PM »
The BIS will be having its AGM at Wisley Hillside Events Centre on Saturday 10th September.
Thomas Tamberg will be coming from Germany to  give The Bryan Dodsworth Memorial Lecture at 2pm. This will be open to the public and free, though charges for admission to Wisley will still apply.
ThomasTamberg has been successful in selecting and breeding many types of Iris and produced a lot of intersectional hybreds.

The Early Spring Show will be on February 18th 2012 In Myddleton House, Enfield, London. A display Iris and Irids including crocus is expected by Kew, Wisley, and David Stephens and Roger Holland -national collection holder of the Bowles crocuses(/ Croci) as well as the compettative show by members of the Iris Society

Myddleton House was home to EA Bowles and has undergone extensive renovation under the guidence of it's new Head Gardener Andrew Turvey, who has taken a lot of care to ensure that the garden is developed along the lines Mr Bowles might have taken.
The Myddleton House  snowdrop and Hellebore day will also be on this day, and the garden is a mass of snowdrops because of 50 years of unchecked cross pollination  since Mr Bowles died

The Late Spring Show will also be at Myddleton House, on 28th April 2012.

The Summer Show will be at Wisley on 2nd/ 3rd June 2012 along with the BIS 90th birthday celebrations

Aha, so that's why Arthur is not expected to the SRGC Early Bulb Day then?!   Have a good time, Iris Folks!
