It is my sad duty to announce that the well known and very popular SRGC and AGS member Mike Bramley, of Holymoorside, Chesterfield, passed away this morning.
Michael and his charming wife, Judith (Ju), were regular attenders of the SRGC Discussion Weekends. Keen exhibitors, they are active members of their local AGS Group and take the entries for the North Midland AGS Show.
This note from Ju:
"Mike has tragically lost his battle with cancer this week. He was operated on in early January for Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, a very rare cancer, so rare that most cancer charities don’t fund research into it. For Mike this involved the removal of his left eye and most of the bone structure on the left hand side of his face including the roof of his mouth. He made an astonishing recovery, however more cancer was found on his spine and despite a further operation he died this morning. He passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family around him.
As many of you will know Mike and I have been planning an Open Garden at our house on Sunday, as a tribute to Mike this will still go ahead.
I will still be taking entries for the North Midland show and look forward to seeing you all there.
Ju "
It is some comfort to their many friends that Ju and their lovely family were able to be with Mike and support him in his tragic illness and our fondest thoughts and condolences go to them at this very sad time.
