Anthony, NZ isn't the only place that shuts down on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Nothing open here today.
Doubt too many would want to be out today anyway.

Helen,

Have you been out sprinkling talcum powder around the garden again to make it look like it's been snowing?  ;D
Cheers.

Happy Easter. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that New Zealand shuts on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Must play havoc with the fresh produce in supermarkets to have two days with nothing moving off the shelves!

Our slight nod to the religious in our communities. We still pretend to be a Christian country even though most are non-practising anything much and those from the Middle East, Lebanon, Israel, Iraq and Iran and the Far East especially Indonesia and Malaysia, are much more devout in the practice of their various religions that the reguilar Kiwi of European extraction. Best thing about the two days, is that there is NO TV ADVERTISING on GF or ES.

For a recipe Fermi, how about an Aussie version of the Scotch Egg. Hard boiled egg wrapped in a fillet of  rabbit breast, flattened to wrap around and sprinkled with a little salt, pepper and fresh thyme, then quickly deep fried to cook through the meat without much further cooking to the egg. I think that would be a winner. ;D

I was listening to an interview with the former chief executive of Auckland SPCA yesterday. Fascinating stuff. He indicated that NZ has the highest number of cats per head of population in the world, and that didn't count truly feral cats, but did include strays. He said that cats were easily disposable by being abandoned to fend for themselves. No wonder the kiwi and other wild birds are doomed!

Helen,

OK, now you've gone totally overboard with the talcum powder!!!!!  ;D

I'm sure there are a few hills hoists about in snowy areas of Aus as well.  Not quite the snows you have, at least for the vast majority of the areas in Aus that do get snow on at least occasions. :D
Cheers.

We're having a week in Queensland in July. It better not snow then! :o

So my son tells. When it's Diwali a fair proportion of his class at college (school  ::)) is absent. They must really be devout, as more or less the same students are off during Ramadan. 8)
