cypripedium sp?

Could anyone help me identify this cypripedium sp found by a friend of mine in oakwoods near boston a while ago?

as they are i believe protected in the wild may i add that my friend did not dig up any plants..he simply took 1 flower amonghst a few clumps to try and ID it once he got home...

it looks like an interesting sp, and not 1 i have come across before
