Eisenerzer Reichenstein

Hello,

Yesterday I visited with Viola and two other friends this mountain in Styria. It is about 2150 m high and you have to climb up 1000m to reach its peak. As we have a heat wave now here in Austria we started early at 7 o'clock (after a two hours drive)
Here some pictures from the fabulous flora - I climbed up there to see a special plant, but we were about a week to late to enjoy it on its peak.

 The Eisenerzer Reichenstein is a neighbour to Austrias only iron mine, the Erzberg

In these meadow are lovely dwarf forms of Anemone narcissiflora and Trollius europaeus.

On flatter ground with more rocks you can find Dianthus alpinus and Gentiana verna.

But the plant I traveled so far was a little past its best:
Viola alpina, not uncommon there
Androsace helvetica on steep, exposed rocks
and at last a few orchids:
Dactylorhiza fuchsii
Gymnadenia conopsea
Traunsteinera globosa

I hope, you enjoyed the pictures as much as I enjoyed the tour.
