Ranunculus Id for NewZealanders
« on: July 03, 2012, 08:25:01 PM »
I have this plant from Dunedin garden. It should be Ranunculus nivicola, but it's a very different plant.
Does anyone recognize this ranunculus? I suppose it should at least be a new zealand plant.

360483-3

The plant here reaches presently 25/30 cm height, but I have a similar second one, already flowering when just 10cm heigh.

It looks a bit like my R. extorris aka  R. ternatus var. ternatus

Hello Mark

The flowers are quiet small, not really more than 1cm ( 0.4inch), what leads me to say the plant would be rather unsignificant, or at least of little interest for the garden.
However if it a species of NZ, I will surely keep it.

Leaves of Philippe's plant don't look like the leaves of the Chinese ternatus/extorris to me...... :-\

I'm sorry I can't help at all even though a NZer from Dunedin. Where are the other NZers?
