... it's not a climber though, more of a rambler.

A Schizanthus of some kind , Mark. Not real climbers though more scrambling or trailing. My Grandfather used to grow masses of them- they were my Granny's favourites.

Yes, I think that's right, Brian. The flowers are certainly showy enough to warrant that name. Pretty things.
