SRGC AGM 2013 - 9th November

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING will be held in the Old Scone Church Hall,
Burnside, Scone, Perth, Perth and Kinross PH2 6LP 
 on Saturday 9 November 2013 at 1.00 pm.
Travel Directions: Entrance to Old Scone Church Hall is off the A94 (Perth/
Coupar Angus road), coming from Perth take the first left onto Cross Street and
immediately left again onto Burnside and follow the signs for the David Douglas
Memorial.
PROGRAMME
12.00 pm Grand Picnic
(You bring the food, we provide the wine, juice, tea and coffee.)
1.00 pm Annual General Meeting
SHORT BREAK
2.00 pm (approx) The Clark Memorial Lecture
Speaker to be confirmed
3.00 pm (approx) Tea and biscuits
There will also be:
• a noncompetitive display of plants
• a member’s 50/50 plant sale
• the second photographic/art competition of the year
• books for sale
Please bring along plenty of plants for the display and/or sale as well as entries for the
photographic/art competition.

7. Presentation of the AGS Salver, the Rutland Salver and the Golden Jubilee
Salver
8. Consider for adoption the Accounts for the year ending 30 June 2012
9. Election of Executive Office-Bearers
10. Election of four Ordinary Members to serve a 3 year term on Council
11. Consideration for adoption the changes to Clause 4 of the Constitution
12. Appointment of Examiner of Accounts
13. Approval of the members of Joint Rock Committee
14. Date & place of ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING in 2014
15. Any other competent business
In accordance with Rule 5.1 all Executive Office-Bearers retire annually but are eligible
for re-election. The following have been nominated:

In accordance with Rule 6.1 four members shall be elected to the Council annually to
serve for three years as Ordinary Members.

The Speaker for the Clark Memorial Lecture at the AGM  will be  Elspeth Mackintosh of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh

The following awards were announced at the AGM:

Golden Jubilee Salver:  Ms Julia Corden.

AGS Salver - Plantsman of the Year:
The AGS Salver for the highest aggregate of First Prize Points in Section I of Club Shows in 2013 was awarded to Dr Stan da Prato with 3810 points.

Rutland Salver:
The Rutland Salver for the highest aggregate of First Prize Points in Section II of Club Shows in 2013 was awarded to Ms Susan Simpson with 587 points.

AGS 75th Anniversary Picture
For service to a local group : this was awarded to Darrell Desbrow who was secretary to the Edinburgh group for many years during which time he worked to stir up, by questionnaire and other means, the natives in the Borders (who were at that time notional members of the Edinburgh Group) to break
away and reform their own Group and gave practical support for some time to that project.  When he moved to Dalbeattie he  was the prime mover in establishing the South West Scotland group based at Threave.


Merit Medals
Merit Medals have been awarded in 2013 as follows:
Gold:  Mr & Mrs C & D Shaw (1st), Dr P Semple (1st), Mr& Mrs B & R Wallace (1st), Mr G Young (2nd), Dr S da Prato (5th & 6th), Mr I Kidman (6th), Mrs J Wyllie (8th).
Silver: Mr & Mrs F Bundy, Mr N Boss., Mr C Lafong (9th)

David Lane Award
The David Lane Award for the best photograph in “The Rock Garden” was awarded to Liam & Joan McCaughey for their photograph of Nassauvia pinnihera on page 90 of the July issue.

The Alf Evans Award
The Alf Evans Award for the best alpine stand at Gardening Scotland was awarded to Kevock Plants.

Best Exhibit in Art Group:
The Williamson Trophy was awarded to Gill Lee for her embroidery
