Like to start a new topic because the Dionysia's start to flower here in Gothenburg Botanical Garden. The first picture is a warning to all of you who are thinking about to start growing Dionysia's. Be very careful you can catch the DIONYSIA FLU. The picture is taken last year by Henrik when I was knocked down by this chronic disease.

Nice Gerben.
This is just a dream coming true. After spending thousands in miracle treatments to get back just a few hairs on my head , you finally gave me the perfect solution. I planned to make a trip to Gothenburg in the end of January to have a closer look at the Dionysias, but now I am not sure I can wait to go. And imagine what a great surprise it would be to my wife.

Gerben
I think you will look better as a blond when all the yellow flowers come out.

Last time I saw anything like that must have been 1967.
As I recall they called it the summer of substance abuse.

1967, That's a long time ago. I was just two years old that year.
John, the flowers never came out.
Two pictures of our Dionysia collection. The fans are always on even so the extra lights. This gives us a early spring.

Tony Hall, recently retired as Manager of the Alpine House and woodland at RBG Kew, has some lovely slides of gentlemen wearing large mossy saxifrages on their heads, very similar to the dionysia flu above. Tony calls them Sax Maniacs!

Well Lesley, we do have contact with Tony and we are very often on the same crazy level.
As promised. A picture of Dionysia afghanica. This species needs a lot of care. They die very easy so we need to take cuttings two times a year for keeping it in cultivation. We should need new blood from nature I suppose but my boss doesn't want to let me go to Afghanistan. I don't understand this?
