Gethyllis 2014

My Gethyllis seem to flower earlier every year; this year most have already flowered - some as early as late May, including one or two before the old leaves had died down!!

Pictured here is one that opened today, Gethyllis barkerae which has an attractive flush of pink to the flowers.

I have been asked several times if I have any Gethyllis to spare. I have been trying to raise some stocks from seed and I hope to have some young bulbs available NEXT year. I will offer these on ebay. Meanwhile, you can check out my other, current offerings at http://ebay.eu/1n3uCgm

Very nice plant & image Paul!

Gethyllis are such stunning bulbs and I can't understand why there is not a bigger demand for them. The flowers are beautiful & often scented; the leaves are bizarre -often hairy, coiled or spiralled and the unusual looking fruits can be eaten (-the pulp of Gethyllis campanulata was quite pleasant) or even better, used to flavour brandy.
What more could be asked of a bulb?
