Primula species -but which?
« on: April 27, 2014, 06:16:22 PM »
Bought as one of four Primula dickieana -all of which came as smallish resting buds. One plant sprung into growth early producing typical Nivalid-type leaves and the flowers photographed below (the flower tone changes slightly with age). The other three plants are showing much less growth (with no flowers as yet) but are more in keeping with P. dickieana.
Can anyone put a name to this primula?

Perhaps Primula longipetiolata, Steve -  is there some  pink/redness in the very base of the stems and leaves?

Thanks Maggi!

There is a fine farina on the undersurface of the leaves and on the top of young leaves before they achieve full length but there is no hint of pink/redness on the leaf stalks (I checked the images of longipetiolata online and see exactly what you mean).
