Cerastium tomentosum
« on: April 05, 2014, 09:39:11 PM »
:) Does anyone have any plants of Cerastium Tormotensum (snow-in-summer) surplus to their requirements that I could purchase that are not to expensive. I know most gardeners consider this plant a thug but where I want to use it I need a plant along this line.
Many thanks.   Grenadier.

I would have had  Cerastium tomentosum for you  a few months ago - but Ian got  tough with it when he was revamping the area it grew in - sorry.
Margaret Young in Aberdeen, North East Scotland Zone 7 -ish!

Seeds available here: http://www.thompson-morgan.com/flowers/flower-seeds/perennial-and-biennial-seeds/cerastium-tomentosum/7972TM and a packet of seeds costs only slightly more than a first class stamp.

Thanks for your reply Maggi also Alan. I did not go down the seed route as I was told once they are not easy to germinate. However, I will buy a packet of seed and give it a go nothing to lose as you say Alan only the cost of  1st class stamp.

If you are still looking for this plant I can send you a bit. Sorry I did not read your request earlier. I found it to be a thug and planted it where it would not spread too much. As it is in full view of passers by I am often asked for a root.
