Trying to control ants with aspartame....again
« on: July 16, 2014, 05:49:47 PM »
Last year I tried with a"light" drink and the ants didn't touch it.
This year I used pure aspartam on sugar sirop and they ignored it also.
As a control I offered them sugar sirop without aspartam:same result.
It seems that not all ants have a sweet......mandible.
Tried with some meat and they ate it but they didn't eat the meat with aspartam on it.
I wonder if some gardeners had the same problem and how they solved it.

Hi John ,

I have heard before some days a good advice :
Fill some Coca Cola in a saucer ...add one drop of washing-up liquid...thats all !
The ants will drown...but only if you add the washing-up liquid !

Good luck

The only effective control that I use is Lorsban. It kills large underground ant nests. It also kills earwigs.
