two Cyrtanthus in flower now, the first Cyrtanthus obrienii, other breed a crossing someone knows?

I have had from Australia, from three years blooms in this period, but it has not never regulated the seed

From this, and from other remarks in other amaryllid pages, should I take it that such hybrids are most commonly infertile?

Howdy All,

Discovered in flower today.... a first flowering of a red Cyrtanthus mackenii (or hybrid thereof, as this is a very large flower).  This is Cyranthus 'Red Prince'.  Beautiful flower.  This means I now have white, yellow, orange, and red forms, but still wanting to get more colours.  I am growing some from seed, so it remains to see what they hold, but I can but hope that something like the wonderful pink posted above will appear.  Such a great genus!!

I have just realised that some of the seed I am growing of the Cyranthus mackenii actually came from Alessandro.  He sent me seed of a lovely red form a few months ago, which judging by the picture he sent me at the time is quite different in proportions to the 'Red Prince' I just posted pics of.  I hadn't thought about it when I posted the pic.... it's a small world Alessandro.  8)

But they are more red than the o'brienii aren't they?  Either way, they're darker than the bright orange that I have in the mackenii, and as you can see they are a smaller flower than my 'Red Prince', looking much more like the normal mackenii.  Will be very interesting to see the flowers in the future.  ;D
