ORCHID SHOW AT TATTON PARK (PLEASE NOTE : NOT ALPINES)

Hi everybody,
Spent part of Sunday at an orchid show at Tatton Park in Cheshire. Took a number of images and whilst I realise these are not, in any way, alpine related perhaps some members may enjoy the colour and form of these gorgeous blooms.
Alpine or rock garden purists ... please avert your eyes.

What variety. I remember seeing Broughtonia sanguinea, a lovely shocking pink epiphyte,  flowering merrily on a stack of wood (for charcoal) next to a shack in Jamaica, where it is a native endemic. I removed some and attached it to trees in the hotel grounds.

Wow Cliff, that is some selection.  Everything in there from Paphiopedilums, Phragmapediums, Cymbidiums, Oncidiums, Odontoglossums, Vandas, Phalaenopsis, Lycaste, Disa (please excuse some incorrect spellings in there I am sure) and more besides.  Nice show by the look of it.

I have got into the habit with photographing the label that goes with each plant after I photograph the flowers.  That way I always have a record (if it is available of course) of the name to go with each flower.  Doesn't always work, but saves me having to write down or remember things.  I'd imagine that you work the same way but I mention it here in case others haven't thought of it.  Many people see me doing it at a show or Orchid Society meeting and are surprised that I do it that way.  Much harder to lose the record of the name that way.

A very happy birthday Cliff. 86 was it? Whatever, we all hope you have many more of them. Do show some more orchids from this interesting show. Though, perversely, it's the very last pic that I find the most attractive. Nothing flashy about me, all style and elegance. Shut up Susan, I can hear you hooting from here.

I would normally capture the plants and the appropriate labels in sequence as you suggest but at Tatton orchid show I had a very young and eager grandson tugging at my arm to take him on the swings.  I just grabbed as many images as possible and went to the children's play area as requested.
