What is that?

1. I've got a couple of accidental seedlings. They look like Ranunculus kochii to me. Are they? I have one flowering at the moment in a trough. I planted it last summer when it was dormant. I suspect now there were some seeds in topping grit in that pot. And they found they way to the ground. It's a bit scary because I have some experience with invasion of R. ficaria in my previous garden. I thought that R. kochii is a well-behaved one. Other species of Ranunculus in my garden don't self-seed at all.

2. This is a small ground creeper. Green in summer, brown-green in winter. Leaves are slightly hairy. It is its first spring with me, no flowers yet.

I have no experience with R. kochii, but could your second photo be a Thyme?

It's a good news for me that R. kochii doesn't produce seeds in British climate.
Thanks for your suggestion Matt, I didn't think about Thyme at all. I hope it will flower this summer to prove it.

Or you could squeeze a little of the foliage between your fingers and get the thymey smell - if it is. The first looks like a small Cyclamen but I suppose not if it has recently germinated. Looks like a Cyclamen maybe 2 or 3 years old.

Hi Lesley, thanks for your suggestions. I'll try to get any smell from that plant. I thought not all the species of Thyme were fragrant though. Or my nose isn't sensitive enough After visiting Waterperry Gardens today I got an idea it might be Thymus herba-barona.
Regarding the first pic, there is a Cyclamen there in the middle but my question was about two small one leaf seedlings on both sides of the Cyclamen plant. In my opinion they are exactly the same as the flowering R. kochii which I planted last year.
