Nova Scotia

Found this on the site Maggi posted on The Western Isles.  For those interested I thought this one of New Scotland was rather well done, a few very Hebridean-like scenery shots.  Sums up the very varied landscapes here.

Thanks for the beautiful tour! Canada is such a large country that I am not ashamed to say I've never been to Nova Scotia (and a few other provinces).
It will go on the 'priority' list now :)

Polly Cove, Nova Scotia headlands / heathlands yesterday with Jiri & Ludmila Papousek and Ken.  A glorious day at 23c and atypical sunshine in the fogbelt.

"Forgot the Name" = a Lycopodium with Gaylussacia baccata in fruit.

Continuing through the headlands at Polly Cove..................Jiri standing on one of the many rocks completely covered in lichens, they're impossible to avoid and seemingly are undamaged by foot traffic.

Still at Polly Cove, Nova Scotia.  Did Jiri discover some authentic hieroglyphs?

The Sarracenia purpurea were everywhere on the headlands of Polly Cove, many with past flowers and seed ripening. Think we spotted v. heterophylla with yellow flowers and pitchers.

All beautiful and very interesting! Somehow Gayllusacia is new for me.
I am sure Jiri enjoyed the rocky scenery. He also gave a talk in Toronto for ORGs about two weeks ago; I relished on many Daphne images :) Sometimes you can see 'hieroglyphs' like that on alvars here.
