Gothenburg Botanic Garden - bulb planting
« on: October 21, 2015, 04:02:24 PM »

This video from Gothenburg Botanic Garden  shows  how they have employed some natty bulb planting machinery to  cope with getting 75 thousand bulbs in the ground for  a mega display next year

I'm trying to find a link for another little clip which shows better what is happening under the machine.
There is a blade which opens up a slit and lifts the grass while the hopper drops the tulip bulbs down into the hole, then the grass is allowed to lie back down again and the wheels at the rear of the machine  smooth it down over the planted bulbs. A sort of invisible planting method!

Hmm, that closer  video was by Gerben Tjeerdsma on Facebook and I cannot find a link to allow it to be seen by the public, so, for the moment, here are some screengrabs which give some idea of the clever mechanism
