Canada's National Parks
« on: December 08, 2016, 02:27:53 AM »
There is a gift from Canada to everyone for 2017: the Discovery Pass allowing admission to all National Parks is Free. There is no deadline, so no rush to ask for it (I understand the website got too busy today) An early Christmas present :)

An extra bribe maybe for those south of the border to travel north ;-)
On the US west coast, as a passing tourist, I found park passes no small cost. I sometimes wanted a evening walk over a hillside, but was expected to pay for a day pass (or even longer) to use the car park, legally. I guess it contributes to restroom costs and wardens etc. Sadly not planning a trip over next year.

With the CAD being as it is, there are plenty of US tourists, they don't need more give-aways ;)
This is related with the next year 150th anniversary of Confederation. The Canada 150 Logo is shown on the pass - 'celebratory diamonds' arranged in the shape of the maple leaf.

If someone thinks will access National Parks/ Marine Reserves few times during the year, then it's worth paying for a pass, no matter if in US or Canada (I don't remember how much is here but for sure less than paying let's say 4-5 times each entry).
