Stenomesson 2016

This newly named bulb just arrived in my collection in November:  Stenomesson ecuadorense.  The original publication was:

"Two new species of endemic Ecuadorean Amaryllidaceae (Asparagales, Amaryllidaceae, Amarylloideae, Eucharideae)" by
 Alan W. Meerow, Lou Jost, & Nora Oleas.  PhytoKeys 48: 1–9 (2015)

I downloaded the article if anyone wants a copy.







The very small bulb is planted in a 5 in sq X 6 in deep plastic pot and is growing under lights.  A very nice gift from an old friend.

Stenomesson ecuadorense:

I don't think so at all.  Alan Meerow said this was from a warm, low elevation site.  I kept it warm (basement plant room, under lights, around 70°F).  Some former "Stenomesson" now Clinanthus are Andean species and like it cooler.
