Much admired in the 'New are difficult' class was
Meconopsis pseudointegrifolia ssp nova from S & D Rankin, my picture should have the flower a shade more yellow.
A few plants exhibited by Margaret and Henry Taylor included
Primula chionantha (14) I tried to get a better photo but was the best I could do, what interest me was the flower stem, the thickness of my finger
Primula obtusifolia (16)
Primula 'Emily', (62) one of their own crosses now up to show quality
Trillium grandiflorum 'Flora Plena' (31) Steve McFarlane

Another hotly contested class was 15, Saxifraga, must have taken a bit of judging
Saxifraga pubescens irratiana from Tom Green was the red sticker
Saxifraga pubescens 'Snowcap'  from David Millward, came third
Iris reichenbachii (27) Lionel Clarkson
Narcissus bulbocodium (32) Tom Green
Erigeron chrysopsidis 'Grand Ridge' (38) John da Paola, don't see this around much anymore?

Class A, the winner of the class on the right and second on the left. The exhibitors were Ian Kidman and Lionel Clarkson

Always good to get your  comments George. As to Class A  the second six  small pans were  from Sue Simpson whom  I now refer  to as Sue Simpson-Watt to acknowledge George's  contribution to this increasingly  successful partnership -it also sounds  so much more upmarket!

I could almost do a full show just using Sue Simpson and her plants so here are a few
Androsace studiosorum 'Doksa' (20)
Lewisia tweedyi (41)...I got the impression that the judges in the Lewisia classes only had eyes for L tweedyi as other Lewisias did not get a look in
Benthamiella patagonica (46), as good as I have seen this year, not had a single flower on my few
Junellia coralloides (60), reminded me I am meant to be looking out for this as like it

Did not quite finish with Sue Simpson-Watt before I hit the post button
Calceolaria 'Walter Shrimpton' (60)
Lamium sandrasicum (61) .... it seeds around in one of my alpine house plunge beds, rather nice that it does
Brian and Shelagh Smethurst are good supporters of this whoe, two of the plants were
Ramonda nathaliae JCA 686, (46) I think I photograph this whenever I see it on the bench
Sedum humifusum (44), might have been as good as I have seen it
Pleione 'Tongariro' (58) Sheila McNulty

As was mentioned in an earlier post re an ugly trophy that I won for best orchid with
Anacamptis morio, a really poor picture (is even poorer now as the plant pot broke as I was putting it back in the car, flower stems are now listing heavily to port). I also had
Fritillaria liliacea J&JA1.371.100, (28) grown from seed sown in ~1999, lucky to still have it as the winter of 2010 hit it hard
Leiophyllum buxifolium nanum (50)...think I bought this at Glasgow show some years ago
A show scene with some well known folk
Viola douglasii (57) Ian Kidman

Two more from Lionel Clarkson...think he must have come with a truck!
Daphne gemminata (54)...a good grower of Daphne is Lionel...saw was for sale on the trade stands but did not have enough money!
Alyssum wulfeniana (61)
Cypripedium calceolus pubescens (63) Richard Green, another of my favourite plants
Myosotis pulvinaris (67) Sheila McNulty, not a small plant 5-6 inches across
Show scene 2, near the end of the day

Last few
Salix nakamura (91) from Peter Moore. There was at least one other specimen at the show, I have to wonder how folk manage to repot them, all the twisted and hanging branches....is still worth growing, the picture does not do it justice
Jean Wyllie was going around dispensing Celmisia seedlings to many folk during the day, she had
Celmisia traversii  as an exhibit, wish she had given me that one at the end of the day, lovely foliage
I finish with a rather poor picture of
Viola pedata (57) from Carole and Ian Bainbridge...nice plant shame about the image

All in all a fine show even if Cyril was away, if he had had his usual contribution to the Show John Lee would have been running around looking for more tables. I had a nice chat to Bill Robinson during the show, glad he is showing the Scots fighting spirit

Great show and kind words, thank you! A good one of Stan at the other end of a camera! And a great cheery one of George, but note the unusual ears!

I knew it! George is really a garden pixie - a pixie that is a tad larger than we  might expect a pixie to be  but a pixie nonetheless- the ears prove it! Super portraits of both these fine gentlemen, Sue!

The Cypripedium labelled pubescens is C. parviflorum pubescens, not calceolus.
