loud boom
« on: May 02, 2016, 10:47:07 PM »
Mystery loud boom heard tonight at 9-45. It had the neighbours out in the street but no explanation as yet. Sonic booms heard before in other parts of the country.

We experienced one of these a couple of weeks ago, shook the whole house and rattled the Windows. Was in the greenhouse at the time but every one in the village was talking about it. Was like a bomb had been dropped....

It said on the news that it was the RAF taking off to check a plane that did not give details. Funny, the same has happened before.

Just heard on the lunchtime news the boom was caused by a couple of typhoons taking off and breaking the sound barrier, in response to air traffic controllers loosing touch with an air France plane. Mystery solved.
