Mystery plant from 500m in Greece
« on: May 08, 2016, 07:53:57 PM »
I went on a short trip near my house, about 25 km, and at 500 m facing NE, in very rocky terrain I encountered this plant.  I have not seen anything like this in Greece.  It was very beautiful.  It looks like it belongs to the pea family.

Can anyone identify it please?

I think it may be  Dictamnus  albus var purpueus   in the family Rutaceae     see here - http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=9092.0   and here- http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=10572.0

Thanks Maggi,

It appears that, unlike dictamnus albus growing in the wild in Germany (in bushes in among heavy vegetation) this one likes very rocky terrain.  Photo is from where it grows.

That is a perfect crevice garden, George!   It is interesting to see how plants  "choose" or are forced, into different situations in different places.
