Our plant of Crepis incana has really thrived on our Cornish wall and we are wondering about propagation. I know that there was a discussion three years ago on the forum when Lesley Cox suggested that only the Thuja Alpine Nursery was a source of viable seeds. Has anything changed ? Is it possible to divide the plant ?

Since it is like a Dandelion, it will grow from pieces of root quite easily.

From "The Propagation of Alpines" by Lawrence D Hills (1959) in respect of Crepis incana:-
"Sow March., normal soil, ready to pot May, can be planted September. Alkso increased by division in April., direct replanting........"

I think you can take the root cuttings at pretty much any time of year ~ they get going rather faster at this time of year than if you take them in winter...

So root cuttings is the method of choice ? Reluctant to disturb our plant whilst it is in full flower and the weather is so hot. Advice about seed sowing presupposes a source of viable seeds. Has anyone found a reliable seed source ? Jelitto offer Crepis pyrenaica but not Crepis incana.
