Could this be a Zephyranthes of some sort?

Hi , we've been wondering about this present fall flowering lily/amaryllid. It is now in bloom and does so only in fall.(now). . It eventually looses its leaves. Locally it is called Vara de San José. Unfortunately that name is used for at least 7 other very different plants including 5 genera. Its height in bloom doesn't surpass 30 cm. There are many open blooms per scape at the same time and can be used as cut flower. It grows and multiplies easily in moist ground.It is not a native plant here. Bulbs can be left in the ground during the winter, in places where it doesn't freeze hard. A very pleasing addition for the front of the border, specially for the season. Can anyone help us out? I immediately thought Hesperantha both from flower and leaf but all those I know are spring flowering.

Hesperantha (schizostylus) coccinea, or something similar, - this flowers in autumn.

Arturo is in Argentina, so it is Autumn (Fall) for that area.

Thank you Carolyn, You seem to have guessed the right species: H Coccinea,I checked at the PBS site and their description best suits what I found. Interestingly enough the NCCPG is placed in Scotland. Many cultivars were listed as of 2003, probably more by now. In the pics none are exactly the same. The one found here seems a different shade( deeper) of pink. Otherwise the rest concides. Also the flowering season. As soon as I get the promised "bulbs" I'll post them to cross check with other sources. Thank you again.Arturo

Some sellers photoshop the pictures a little so customers think they buy a new one
Never buy a not named variety unless you want the ordinary one
