What a beautiful collection of Primula sieboldii Paul, they don't like my garden so I shall need another trip to Wisley to see them.

Primula sieboldii has never persisted for any length of time in our Aberdeen garden either, nor am I likely to be visiting Wisley any time soon, so it is especially good to see the goodies from Paul's Log. Congratulations, Paul, on your work to bring Wisley to a wider audience.

That's strange - they won't grow in Devon or Aberdeen, but here half way between they grow like weeds!

They do well here also, which is odd, considering that they grow in quite
damp areas in Japan.  But perhaps they stay green longer in Japan than
they do here.  Mine spend only a short while above ground.

I think plants that spend most of their lives underground are in danger of
being dug over or planted over, and this may be why some people can't
grow them.  Those of us who plant them in a neglected spot may do better
with them than more active gardeners.
