I'm excited to announce that my next botanical expedition will be a trip to Corsica to follow in the footsteps of the late James Cartledge Archibald.
I never met Jim, but he has left a huge legacy through the many plants collections he and his wife Jenny distributed - plants with collection numbers JCA and JJA. You can learn more in the on
the Scottish Rock Garden Club website and
pages on this Forum.
In 1962, Jim took a trip to Corsica and subsequently published an article 'Corsican Spring' detailing some of the plants he found there. In March/April 2018 I will try to relocate and visit the sites he was at to see if I can find the same plants and what effect the intervening 56 years have seen. I will feedback the results through articles and lectures.
I am grateful to the Scottish Rock Garden Club for a generous grant from their Exploration Awards programme in support of this trip.
