« on: October 01, 2018, 01:29:04 PM »
October is still spring here in the Southern Hemisphere but we see the last of the tulips and daffs and more iris and other bulbs, especially from South Africa:
1) Tulipa clusiana 'Cynthia'
2) maroon sparaxis
3) DBI 'Larrikin'
4) Narcissus 08-18MJ (Limequilla x [Hillstar x Quickstar]) LT2018 -now faded to white but still looking good!
5) Gladiolus virescens ssp virescens
cheers

I have enjoyed seeing fermi and jamus and other posts from September and October.
I thoroughly agree with Maggie on the vireyas.

Here are just a few from my garden pots.

1 & 2. A cypripedium hybrid gifted by Otto - that i simply cannot believe has flowered in arid outer Melbourne.
Having said that, if they flower for Jamus in the heat of Adelaide...

3. Anemonella thalictroides

4. A Tulipa batalinii hybrid

5. Not the best photo, but i think mascara muscarimi?

Some cooling colours as we enter into the hot weather:
Ornithogalum arabicum is quite striking this year;
Ixia pale blue hybrid - a descendant of Ixia viridiflora
white watsonia
Babiana  tubulosa
cheers
