PITLOCHRY - SRGC EXHIBITION 2008
« on: April 10, 2008, 09:45:58 AM »
President Ian Christie has sent me a few pictures of the new Exhibition of pictures Celebrating 75 Years of the SRGC.
Sandy Leven has printed out a wonderful selection of pictures and Julia Corden has co-ordinated the Exhibition.
I am sure we all want to thank them for thier hard work and the best way we can do that is to go and visit the exhibition.
I hope to get more pictures, perhaps even the whole exhibition posted on the website during this our 75th year.

Excellent work folks....congratulations and thanks from us all. As an aside, accompanying Julia Corden in the second image are that wonderful couple Ron and Joan Beeston....very familiar and much loved growers to members of the SRGC and the AGS.

Cliff, thanks, I had missed out that info.... Yes, Ron and Joan Beeston were visiting with President Ian Christie.  Julia's four-legged companion is young Bracken- who has less expertise in the growing of anything, so far!

Nice to see Julia (Corden) after nearly 20 years, since I was a Wisley student gardener under her supervision  8)
What kind of dog does she have?

Yes, Jose, Bracken is a working cocker spaniel, barely a year old yet, I think.
Julia is one on the real stars of the SRGC...... she is involved in many aspects ofthe club..... soon, on Saturday 19th April it's the Perth Show.... Julia is the Show secretary! 8)

Perth!. Had the opportunity to learn at Glendoick Gardens for a Summer work of experience 20 years ago. I well remember that Summer: so ccccold!  :o. It was a total new thing to me to sit by the fire in August!. Also I noticed that the 'Scottish sun' barely warms a bit, compared to our sun. But then, you can grow so many special things that just would burn to ashes if tryed here...  ::)
I remember Perth during my Saturday morning shopping, and also a couple of magical visits to Branklyn... Oh, what a time!!!  8)

Hi, to all, I did indeed enjoy the company of Ron and Joan who stayed with us for two nights, we were able to share a dram or two plus after our visit to Pitlochry we went to meet John Mattingly at Cluny what a superb garden with Huge trilliuma at every corner but the star of the day was :Primula sonchifolia this was just breathtaking so anyone in the area please visit to support the work at Cluny. I send Pictures of Primula sonchifolia just to tempt you, cheers Ian the Christie kind.
