Bee orchids
« on: August 06, 2018, 05:17:09 PM »
My brother has been given some bee orchid seed, does anybody know who would be able to tell him which sort of mychorrizal fungus is needed to help it germinate? We have the facilities at York College to do it properly, but need the info to get it going.

Hi Chris. I have no experience with symbiotic germination, but Ophrys apifera is quite easy on a simple medium without fungus. You can buy all the medium ingredients for sterile symbiotic germination in the supermarket. Have a look at my orchid propagation website: http://invitroorchids.dk/en_index.html

Good luck, Anders.
