Rumeiss I was pleased to find your post of the Astrophytum. My son Jack and I have been sowing Astro seed for the the last 18 months and run a joint Flickr site for our cactus and succulents.

We have had success and failures along the way and are still learning.  Pictures are of four of our seedlings so far, some of which are weird and perhaps not to everyone's taste. The first two photos are Astro. asterias and the last two are A. myriostigma variants.

Those baby cacti are just so cute.  I MUST NOT BE TEMPTED!!  I have too many problems coping with Cyclamen and alpine seedlings.

Rudi your blooming  A. asterias is a  true beauty.   In terms of numbers we are growing more Astrophytum than other  species at present and yet more seed arrived this week.  Crazy I know but I'm at the point of slowing down the seeding anxious to do some seedling culling and picking the keepers for our collection.  I find watching the slow development  of the variations in the Astro seedlings  fascinating.  Unlike you Roma I have completely given in to 'temptation' and doing so has re-energized  me. And Maggie I intend to continue  making earthen ware pots this winter.. What I have learned is that smaller pots are what I need not bigger ones.
