The autumn flowering Crocuses are in full swing here in Adelaide, with lots of flowers in pots and in the garden.

That is an amazing hillside with scardicus!
There must be millions growing very well. What are the conditions there?
I struggle too keep my two corms alive, so if I can learn to grow them better I will be happy.

yes there were endless numbers. Conditions are quite variable up there. The earlier flowering ones seem to come out some time after the snow has melted and are on slightly sloping hillsides. I have seen them flowering later at the edge of snowpatches in gullies. The veluchensis however seem to be much closer to the actual snow although I have also seen them on very steep slopes clear of snow.  They are both growing in coarse grass in very nice deep loamy soil. I think they will be moist all summer due to thunderstorms.  I grow them quite well in a constantly moist sand plunge in shade, they never dry out.
