AGS Facebook Live Events
« on: May 28, 2020, 02:28:22 PM »
Last  week, and  still available  on the  AGS  Members' Facebook Group, a new  series  of  "Facebook Live"  events  took place  - the  speaker taking  questions  in the  first  event  was  Kit Strange known for  her  work at Kew Garden.
You can see Kit's  video  here

Next  Thursday it  will be  Ian Young!

Alpine Garden Society writes:

"Surprise! Ian Young of @ScottishRockGC
is appearing live on our Facebook Members Group
 ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/alpinegardensociety/?ref=bookmarks )  to talk about #bulbs! "

Tune in at 6pm Thurs 4th June

 https://facebook.com/groups/alpinegardensociety

This group is restricted to AGS Members.
You can join to gain access: https://alpinegardensociety.net/join-us/ #garden #gardening

Although Ian is  known  affectionately as the  "Bulb Despot"  and  his  weekly Bulb Log since  2003 - he   does not  only  concentrate  on bulbs - and  has years  of  experience  in answering plant and  garden questions on BBC radio for the  Beechgrove  Potting Shed programme.

Ian has  been an AGS member  for  as  long as  he's  been an  SRGC member  and  was no stranger  to visiting  AGS Groups as  a  speaker  in pre-virus  times - difference  here  is that  he  won't  need  a  flask of  tea and  some  choccy  biscuits  for the  journey!
Margaret Young in Aberdeen, North East Scotland Zone 7 -ish!

For those  of  you  who are  not  AGS members - Dr Fay Edwards, the AGS Web and Social Media Editor announces this special offer:  a 10% discount on AGS membership for the first 100 people who sign up for AGS membership. The code is open to everyone, but  SRGC members are  the  first  to know!

To claim the discount, you need to visit the joining page (https://www.alpinegardensociety.net/join-us/), select the membership you’d like, then click the ‘join us’ box (not ‘buy now’) and at the top of the next page you’ll see ‘Have a coupon code? Enter it here’ which they click and enter ‘special10’. That’ll apply a 10% discount to whichever membership you’ve chosen.
It is only valid for the first 100 sign ups - so be  quick if  you want  to take  advantage!

When you've  joined the  AGS  you  then need  to go to the  AGS members Facebook  private  page  and  apply  to join that, in order to be  able to catch  the Facebook Lice  event  with Ian - or  catch up there  with  recordings.

Managed to catch most of Ian's session on Facebook last night. He was brilliant as ever and it is something both society's need to do more of. Thanks Ian and Miss Mollie.
