Yes a super Farrer for Don.

What Lawrence was too modest to admit was that he won the Open Aggregate today, not Don Peace. I don't think Don was too worried though the Farrer was a nice compensation.

What a great day at Whitworth Riverside for the East Lancs Show.
The weather was awful but the atmosphere in the hall was did not reflect this, and the benches were filled with super plants which kept visitors young and old engaged all day.
For my first time as show secretary I could not have asked for better support, with everyone involved doing their bit with enthusiasm and a big smile. It had been decided to ‘share’ the effort of planning and staging the show this year and it could hardly have worked better.
From manning the door, organising raffle and tombola, managing plant sales from a hugely stocked members plant stall and stewarding, everybody simply went about their tasks willingly and with genuine East Lancs good humour.
My thanks in particular to my predecessor Carol for taking and organising the entries, an onerous task – especially when the computer and the printer do not always fully cooperate!
And, shown by the huge and entirely spontaneous round of applause from all present, huge appreciation to the helpers in the kitchen. With the best bacon and sausage butties tasted in a long time, generous cups of tea and coffee, a wonderful array of cakes and pies donated by members, and a really tasty potato pie, peas and red cabbage provided via the Riverside, virtually all the food was sold.
I cannot thank enough Sue B, Sue W, Gillian, Hillary, Clare and Ken, who all worked tirelessly and with smiles all day.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for everyone and bodes well for it all to be repeated in 2020.
