Gentiana 2019
« on: April 05, 2019, 04:03:09 AM »
A friend gave me a seed pot of "Gentiana acaulis hybrid" a few years ago.  Here is its maiden bloom.

Beautiful Gentiana...Claire.
For me, Gentiana acaulis "alba" has set two flowers for the first time. It could be the same.

Claire, it seems to me that the older leaves are long and narrow, that is typical for Gentiana angustifolia.

We were very  sad to hear at the weekend of the  death of  Dr  Ian McNaughton, of  Pencaitland.
Ian had  been suffering  poor  health for  some time and his  eyesight was  very  bad, which was a great trial to him.  He  is  survived  by his  wife  of  nearly  sixty  years, Beryl, and their wonderful children and  grandchildren.

Gentiana oschtenica x delphinensis.

In all parts bigger and slightly darker...  Gentiana verna.  However, I cannot say which subspecies it is... sorry. ???

Here also a Gentiana from the Acaulis group.  He is already some years old.  Better said...it was him.  Maybe you will declare me crazy...  but I gave it to two botanical friends two hours ago.  The Gentiana was in the part I tore off (about 4/5 of the rock garden).  And if I can make others happy with it, I did everything right.
The weight was quite big...  but now I have room for new plants again. ;D

Here again a nameless representative of the acaulis group...because the label has somehow been lost. It could possibly be Gentiana angustifolia.
