Ian Young Awarded Veitch Memorial Medal by RHS

Tremendously proud of Ian Young of Scottish Rock Garden Club who has been today been awarded the Veitch Memorial Medal by the RHS - my hero!!
Sadly  because  of  the  coronavirus  restrictions  Ian couldn't  travel and  anyway the RHS award  ceremony  was  postponed, so just  celebrating here  with  tea and  chocolate  biscuits!


Ian Young  with Keith Wiley  - who was  himself  made  an Associate  of  Honour  by  the  RHS   today- in  Gothenburg, where  they  were  both giving  talks.

The  Veitch Memorial Medal

Well done  Ian, I am VERY  proud  of  you! I would  have  loved to  have  been  able  to see  you given the  award  in  London- but  so pleased  that President  Julia Corden was  going to keep you company! Shame  you've  both been done  out  of  a  free lunch!

Very well deserved  indeed. Note also an award  for Peter Sandwell   who worked for Dundee parks including  running the Dundee flower show.

Very well deserved, Ian.  Thanks for your teaching, showing, innovating, planning, designing, books, articles, logs, displays, talks, plant introductions, photography and everything else that comes with just being you!

Opened the  May  issue  of  The  Garden, from the  RHS - nice  mention of  Ian Young  on page  13  with  other  RHS award  winners 2020 ....




then a  delight to find more  about  Ian and the  SRGC in a  super  article  on the  garden of  Lynda  Crouch in Perthshire  .....
