I fancy the flowers are slightly the wrong shape for Fragaria .. and we have never seen any fruit!

Wild strawberries are often dioecious. I had one local species- Fragaria chiloensis which spread, but never fruited. I'm not sure which sex I had, but you need both to get strawberries.

Finally discovered - it is Potentilla montana. Nice plant in the garden.
