Laurence Hill - Talk for Linnean Society on YouTube
« on: January 23, 2021, 06:03:12 PM »
Many  will be  familiar  with the  stunning  illustrations  by  Laurence  Hill from his Fritillaria Icones  website
 ( http://www.fritillariaicones.com/projects/project.html ) : recently  he  gave  a talk to the  Linnean Society ( https://www.linnean.org ) ....

" Our digitally connected world is profoundly image led yet the practice of botanical image making, and types of image commissioned is little changed in several hundred years. Laurence Hill uses examples from the Fritillaria Icones Project, to look at structuring images for online use and wider uses within botanical science and science communication.

It is absorbing isn't  it? Laurence  Hill is a real master  at  this art and sharing his knowledge of  Fritillarias to the world - and the  photographic info is extraordinary  for  lay  folks like  me!

Thanks for posting this, Maggi. What a fascinating presentation. I’m sure I can see a wee lockdown project for Ian there, with erythroniums of course!
