Surprises with Lewisias
«
on:

Last year, Lewisia Soranda Sun Set gave me a bloom in May-June.
Gave me a second bloom from August to November until snow.
This year, (After 6 meters of snow), when the snow melted over it, I saw flower buds, and the blooming start again.
Photos are in order in time.
Bonne journée,
Bernard
Sorry, I did forget.

Bernard, love the Magenta, close in colour to Ashwood Ruby (see Southport Show thread). For your unknown ones, especially form seed, best to stick to the great catch all Lewisia cotyledon hybrid

Bernard, unfortunately Lewisia cotyledon and its cultivars do not come true from seed so anything you might get as a named variety may be seed from that particular plant but it is unlikely to come true. All named varieties must be reproduced from cuttings.
Maybe you would like to click on my lewisia link below for more information.
Cheers.

Many years ago when I had
Lewisia cotyledon
'Magenta' from Jack Drake's seed list, it was generally in that colour range but also included some scarlets and very deep pinks, but all very intense, rich colours so overall, thoroughly great. But they set very little seed for me, much less than others with more orangey or light pink shades.

Thank you Martin and Michael,
I understand that from seeds, I can get "Ugly duck" or "Beautiful swan".
Michael, after seeing your photo gallery, I think I will stop showing my "Ugly duck"
Except this last one

I don't think any of them can be called "ugly" Bernard, maybe just a little less flamboyant.

You are right, Lesley.
When your first spring flower is a Lewisia, I think I can make jokes about my "less flamboyants" Lewisias.
I'm very happy them.
