Calochortus 2022
« on: March 27, 2022, 09:29:47 AM »
I am just beginning my attempt to grow Calochortus. PBS had a surplus from several years of seed exchanges and members were given opportunity to join a random drawing to purchase 1 of 3 shares.
I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to buy a share. Now I have seed for 17 species of Calochortus.  I was advised to hold the seed until mid August before putting bags of planted seed in the fridge.  I would appreciate any advise I might get from people who have grown them successfully.

I am in USDA zone 8b where temperatures almost never fall below 15F -9.4C.  Rainfall 50" 110 cm + but none  June-September.  We seldom get snow; but when it comes we get 30" overnight. Soil is sandy loam with a lot of humus.
