seeds to give away ( Zephyranthes and others )
« on: July 30, 2022, 01:38:38 PM »
Hello all

have some seeds to give away :

Argemone mexicana
Habranthus andersonii
Hyosacyamus nigrus
Pyrolirion aureum
Zephyranthus filifolia
Zephyranthus spec.Piltz
Zephyranthus spec.Yavi

Sorry - all gone

Gladly against exchange or reimbursement of expenses :)

I'am afraid due to brexit semen shipment to UK is not possible

I search e.g. Dioscorea balcanica or bulbifera

Greetings Hans

Hello Hans, I have D. bulbifera and it makes small tubers on its stem. I have a few at the moment, I can send them if you are intersted.

Hello Jost ,

Oh ...thats a nice offer :)
Are you sure it is a real D.bulbifera ? ...they are often wrong labeled ( and are D.batatas )
Do you have maybe a picture ?
Here is a picture of my D.batatas :
https://www.srgc.org.uk/forum/index.php?topic=18141.msg416403#msg416403
Here are good pictures of a real D.bulbifera :
https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:323908-2
There is a big difference of the leaves between D.bulbifera and D.batatas
Are you interested from anything of my seed offer ?

With best wishes
Hans

Hans,
I think it is OK to send seeds to the UK in 2022, the new rules are not expected to start till 2023.
This is what the seed exchange page on the SRGC site says about seed donations from EU countries:

From EU members: our current understanding is that implementation of these rules for seed from the EU has been delayed until 2023, and so donations from the EU will not require phytosanitary certificates this autumn, and you will be able to donate as normal.

So I think you can swap seeds with members in the UK this year.
