Sadly the Luisenpark Mannheim Snowdrop Day will not take place in 2023. This has been posted on Facebook :

   " More and more people ask me - but there is no good news. The Snowdrop Days 2023 have to be cancelled again 🙁 .
    The reason is that in 2023 the BUGA will take place in Mannheim, among other things in Luisenpark. The BUGA society will take over the Luisenpark in late autumn and will close the gates until the opening of the BUGA. The Baumhainhalle cannot be used and there is no alternative. Even if I were to find a location - I can't afford the numerous official duties of a large event privately. The Luisenpark has great routine in it as an organizer."

CELEBRATION OF SNOWDROPS EVENT SATURDAY 21 JANUARY 2023 11.30am- 2.30pm

"Our popular event will be the first of the season. Back to the spacious Norton Village Hall with ample car parking.

There will be 6/8 other sellers of rare snowdrops from all over the country. Many of the sellers (eg Glen Chantry, Michael Broadhurst) do not sell by mail order at this time of year, and so this is a good chance to obtain the rarest of snowdrops.


Entry on the day. No booking required
RHS members: £3.00
Non-members: £4.00

Refreshments will be available

Norton Village Hall, Norton, Bury St Edmunds, IP31 3ND (Junction 47 A14 take A1066 north to Ixworth. Norton is 2 miles along this road."

First of the East Anglian sales this year is on Saturday 21st January 10-2 at Blacksmiths Cottage Nursery, Langmere Rd, Dickleburgh, Diss IP21 4QA  Sellers Monksilver Nursery, Hedgehog Plants and Loke Cottage! Free admission.

Monksilver of course is Joe Sharman who bred the lovely 'Golden Fleece'

Definitely one of my favourites! First regarding the achievements of the breeder, second as the elegantly winged shape of the flowers is still unique, as far as I know. Also, it´s the earliest yellow to flower in my garden and clumps very well - starting with one bulb 4 years ago, there are more than 20 flowers this year. It´s great  that now there is more variation in the yellow snowdrops which I like so much.

Woodchippings list went online yesterday, many were sold out extremely quickly which is no surprise, but there are still some good snowdrops left on the website.
