We grow Narcissus cyclamineus very happily in a mix of 2 parts sandy loam, 1 part leaf mould and 2 parts 6mm grit - our laom is slightly acid.
It also grows well in our garden beds is the natural soil which is a sandy loam.
It likes moisture at all times and I suspect it does not like to get too hot and dry in the summer months, that is probably why it likes our garden in north east Scotland.
