Richard  Wilford  also wrote the  Kew  guide  : The  Plant  lover's  Guide  to Tulips - but the  first  book is  the  best, having  more  about  species, I think.


 Richard Wilford  was  in  charge  of the  bulb collection at  Kew  gardens  for  many  years.

Oh my goodness, I should  have  remembered that - the  International Rock Gardner e-magazine  published  the  new Tulipa sp. bearing  her  name!

Sjaak de Groot & Ben Zonneveld describe two new tulip species from the Altai mountains in Kazakhstan, named for Anna Ivaschenko and  Diana Everett.

Two other excellent books are:

Sir Daniel Hall's The Genus Tulipa - though the taxonomy is dated (1940s) the illustrations and descriptions are excellent. It is readily available from specialist book stores like Mike Park https://www.mikeparkbooks.com/

Tulips by Zenaida Botschantzeva - this is the most comprehensive systematic review of the species (up to 1960) with illustrations and detailed descriptions of central Asian species. It was published in Russian and translated into English in 1980s. It is available from ABE books https://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?cm_sp=SearchF-_-topnav-_-Results&kn=tulips%2C%20botschantzeva&sts=t I can't praise it enough and if you get a copy hold onto it or give it to a botanical library as it is scarce.

Whilst Everitt's book is the most up to date on taxonomy and easy to refer to I use the two above when more detail information and understanding is required  (they also have excellent illustrations).
